Peter Whitton, Managing Director
30 years experience in the electricity and energy supply. Formerly this was
in senior management including head of business development, in Magnox,
Nuclear Electric, National Power and the CEGB. Peter is Founder and Managing
Director of Progressive Energy Ltd. Peter’s roles include commercialisation
of emerging technologies, project management, project and business
financing, commercial management & negotiation, business strategy, and Government
interface.
David Hanstock
Senior business development, strategy and technology roles within CEGB. A
founding director of Progressive Energy and director of COOTS Ltd, which is
developing an offshore CO2 transport and storage infrastructure in the North
Sea. Instrumental in a number of EU Framework programmes, on executive
boards, active in the formulation of EU policy for the Emissions Trading
Scheme and UK Governmental bodies focused on carbon mitigation.
Andy Brown
Extensive operational, maintenance and engineering power station experience
within CEGB and its successor companies, becoming Progressive Energy’s
Engineering Director in 1998. Responsible for engineering of a 800MW IGCC at
Teesside as well as two further 400MW projects on other sites.
Chris Manson-Whitton
Heading up Progressive Energy’s renewables and waste activities. Managed a public-private
partnership project focused on hydrogen and power generation from waste, a
collaborative bid for a gasification project in New York, led 18 months
co-development activities with Infinis, the UK’s largest landfill gas
operator, and manages PEL’s current pipeline of waste derived projects. Roles
include project management, detailed engagement with technology providers,
government & regulators, techno-economic and risk assessments of projects.
Roger Gifford
Project managed the development and construction of power and renewable
projects with Capex values up to £450m, including new-build CCGT, CHP, Waste
to Energy, Wind Farm & Bioethanol projects. Managed multi-disciplinary
activities: project engineering, EPC negotiation, specialist technical
studies, the preparation of regulatory consent applications and related
environmental studies.
Mike Austell
Developed 8 projects in 6 countries totaling $2.6 billion. Instrumental in
commercializing such technologies as Circulating Fluidized Bed Boilers,
Bioethanol, Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle power plants and large
scale CHP.
Trevor Croft
Business manager at Eggborough Power station and other roles within CEGB.
Founding team of Rolls Royce Power Ventures, and project developer for
Advanced Power. Developed and delivered complex power projects in the UK and
Europe, including evaluating and structuring projects, risk assessment,
project financing, technical and commercial contract negotiation, plant
construction, operations and maintenance. At PEL, is Project Manager for the
Eston Grange Programme.
Phillip Cozens
Experienced Project Manager, Developer & highly respected Technical Expert.
20 years' experience in the energy industry including oil and gas, followed
by over ten years in the waste sector. Developed and consented the Allington EfW facility, before joining Hanson and Shanks where he developed
the concept for the UK’s first MBT processing facility in London. More
recently, whilst Technical Director at RPS he consented the UK’s first
secondary fuel gasification facility, latterly was Head of Technical
Services with Infinis, the UK’s largest purely renewable energy generator.
Phillip is also a respected governmental and UK/EU standards advisor in the
biomass and waste sectors.
Lorna Doxsey
Extensive development experience primarily in the power sector with both
Rolls Royce and Kennedy and Donkin (International Consulting engineers).
Responsibilities include management of Project development programmes for
£25M-£600M projects from concept definition, through to contract
negotiation, financing and project delivery, operating with global project
teams. At PEL is based in Teesside and represents PEL’s interests in the
region.
Charles Eickhoff
Engineering and analysis roles within CEGB. Electricity trading in TXU,
managing the Spanish operation prior to setting up TXU’s Paris trading
operation. Market analysis and trading strategy for British Energy, and
latterly development of broader energy strategy for Diageo. Within PEL,
heading up European Research, Development and Demonstration programmes, and
strategic project definition studies.
Sarah Davis
Formerly Head of Commercial Development Group, Engineering at National Power
plc, identifying and developing innovative technology based business
opportunities including renewable energy & various waste-to- energy schemes.
Managed the search for technological ideas and developments to meet National
Power's strategy, including technical, market, economic and financial
evaluation. Has worked with Progressive Energy for seven years focussed
primarily on biomass and waste activities, combined with University
Lecturing and mentoring start-up companies.
Imelda Rusli
A recent Master’s graduate from Nottingham university, Imelda is responsible
for PEL’s process modelling capability. These activities are predominantly
focussed on supporting the IGCC and CO2 infrastructure activities, for the
current portfolio of projects and also for European Research programmes in
this area. PEL uses ChemCAD and Promax.
Dave Cave
Held senior positions in the electricity industry, formerly within the CEGB,
latterly as member of the privatisation team. Head of Electricity Trading at
PowerGen. Responsible for acquisition and divestment of power station assets
in the UK and abroad. Assembled fully financed bid for purchase of Fiddlers
Ferry and Ferry Bridge power stations. Founding director of BizzEnergy. At
PEL his responsibilities include negotiating PPAs, feedstock and land
purchase.
