We provide end-to-end advisory services for the low carbon energy sector

The low-carbon transition is one of society’s most complex challenges, requiring unprecedented innovation. We combine a creative and agile approach with extensive experience gained from both advisory services and project development to implement practical, transformative solutions.

Our expertise is focused on the entire energy value chain, including generation, transport, storage, and demand management. Our multi-vector energy approach, spanning power, natural gas, biomethane, hydrogen, and carbon capture,  allows us to identify integrated opportunities that may be missed by our competitors.

The work that we carry out extends from feasibilities studies to project management of the delivery of large infrastructure projects, such as HyNet. Our unique blend of commercial and engineering expertise makes us uniquely able to deliver value on your projects.

Clients lie at the heart of what we do. Our work is dedicated to building on your ambition to deliver decarbonisation, helping you to realise your objectives on time and on budget. Our work is described in more detail in the Case Studies set out below.

Case Studies

Our expertise in delivering complex decarbonisation projects is proven by our extensive track record of successful delivery for our clients.

The recent significant projects that we have successfully delivered are:

HyDeploy 1 and HyDeploy2

Development of the national case for safety of blending hydrogen into the distribution system. This included successful public demonstration projects at Keele University and Winlaton, converting the gas networks to a 20% hydrogen blend.

Hy4Heat
A Department of Energy Security and Net Zero programme exploring hydrogen for heating. Progressive acted as technical advisor.

Direct Air Capture Development
Progressive advised a direct air capture facility developer on site identification, planning, permitting, and general project development.

Biofuel Plant Due Diligence
Progressive carried out extensive due diligence for potential investors in an advanced gasification plant, highlighting risks and informing investment decisions.

Battery Electrical Storage Systems
Progressive advised an infrastructure fund on deploying BESS at solar farms to increase returns via arbitrage and other revenue mechanisms.

Green Cities
Progressive modelled UK city energy systems to evaluate the cost of different net zero pathways.

Redevelopment of End-of-Life Gas Fields for CO₂ Storage
Progressive reviewed the potential for the redevelopment of depleted gas fields for permanent CO₂ storage, leading to a cooperative cluster of emitters working together to use this store.

Industrial Fuel Switching
Progressive managed several demonstrations of switching manufacturing facilities to hydrogen fuel, including Pilkington, Unilever, Novelis, and Kelloggs sites.

Power Supply to Data Centres
Progressive assessed low-carbon power generation and supply options to support a major data centre development.

Regional Studies Potential for Large-Scale Hydrogen Storage
Progressive evaluated geological storage options for hydrogen in salt caverns, gas fields, and aquifers for a Gas Distribution Network operator.

Early Feasibility Studies on Hydrogen Storage in Geological Structures
Progressive’s studies with Cambridge University and BGS showed the viability of hydrogen storage in gas fields and aquifers.

Dispatchable Generation Modelling
Progressive used hourly energy models to evaluate load factors for dispatchable power in renewable-heavy energy systems.
