ESB has signed a co-development agreement with Progressive Energy to deploy dispatchable hydrogen to power generation projects in the UK, the Irish utility revealed this week. In support of the UK Government’s Clean Power 2030 objectives, dispatchable hydrogen power will play a significant role in decarbonising the power sector.
Hydrogen to power provides low carbon power at times of lower wind and solar generation and enhances the security of the UK’s electricity supply. The partnership brings together ESB’s significant experience of operating and funding major thermal generation assets along with Progressive Energy’s expertise and track-record in origination of projects in the hydrogen space.
